About Cogent Language

Cogent Language was founded in 2005 as a Limited Liability Company in the US state of Arizona. A branch entity was formally established in Tokyo, Japan in 2007. That branch is currently the base of operations.

There, the company has nurtured long-term relationships with innovative organizations in the nonprofit, education, and private sectors. Key corporate clients in Japan have included top-of-the-line global firms in IT, finance, engineering, and publishing. Outside the private sector, Cogent Language has worked with associations and universities, offering advice and instruction on project management, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

From early on, the key customers and “end users” of Cogent Language services have been early- to mid-career individuals working in project teams. It serves especially those with new responsibilities in projects or those wanting them. As its value proposition, it offers opportunities to grow their own project know-how for going forward, based on their own ideals and their unique lived experience in project teams.

In 2025, company principal Dan Clapper began to volunteer his mentoring services to the Project Management Institute chapter in Phoenix, Arizona. There he had founded the company 20 years before. On the basis of his first contributions in that role, he was certified by the chapter as an “Exceptional Mentor”.
