Our initial coaching session is called Career Projects Overview. It is a talk designed to elevate what matters most to both of us: your projects, your career, and my capacity to coach you.

No cost, no forms to complete; no AI, recording, or commitment. Just talk and listening – informal, friendly, and confidential, but deliberately wide-ranging. We start with your projects, meetings, and organizations. We may take one project to focus on. And/or we can go to your ideals, concerns, or strategies, strategies for a current project, for a new job, and for your career.

In exchange, I will offer advice on the big picture that you paint. It takes the form of “career projects”, that is, actionable projects that can have positive impact going forward, in your projects and career. Of course, this serves you not only as insights to consider, but also as a test of the fitness of my coaching to your needs.  Will you want to go forward with some career projects?

Exchange™ FAQ’s

  • It is simple. We offer two services only, one free and the other at USD $300. Both are based on sessions of 1:1 talk about one hour long.

    The service explained on this page – our Career Projects Overview – is free. 

    Our only other service is Career Coaching. This is a package of 10 sessions costing USD $300.

    Note that Career Coaching is only available by mutual agreement after a Cogent Language Overview. 

  • Free consultation on project know-how for your career. No forms, no paper, no AI agents, no attachments, no recording, Just talk.

    The talk will be informal, confidential, wide-ranging, and friendly. It will take about an hour.   In that timeframe, we will develop actionable ideas on growing know-how for your career going forward. 

  • Career Projects Overview serves you as a way to sample the vibe of my coaching and test its fitness to your career. It serves me as a way to see if I could really bring enough value to to act as your career coach.  If the vibe and fitness are good for both of us, it will be easy to start a 10-session coaching program.

  • I think experience is a better teacher than words, so, to really find out what it is like to talk with me, I’d say why not sign up for an Exchange and see? If you want some words about the conversation we are likely to have, one good one would be “cogent”. If you want a few more, I’d offer  “informal”. “confidential”, “wide-ranging”, and “friendly”.   • Honestly, because there is only one caeer projects coach (me/Dan). 

    Operationally, Cogent Language is more like an open mike event or a small jazz club.  This business model doesn’t scale, I know, and there are no plans to expand. However, arena rock and asset accumulation are not the reasons for its being. Cogent Language exists for the quality of co-creation, the learning and its application on both sides of the see-saw, the “art”, if you will, of cogent language and of doing career projects that work.

  • The agenda for the Career Projects Overview begins with you. Prepare to begin it based on your own project and career interests.  That said, you may want to also prepare to discuss one important complete (or terminated) project, on which you were a team member from start to finish. We will call this your “project in focus”. We will use it as a way to explore your experience and preferences in some depth.
